Lyon Middle school boys basketball meet their match

The middle school boys basketball teams met their match Monday night in Trigg county as the homestanding Wildcats ran away with both wins in the double header.
With playmaker Jordan Gary on the bench with two early fouls, the seventh graders fell behind 27-14 at the half. Despite a valiant effort in the fourth quarter, in which they cut the lead to only six points, the Lyons could not close the gap as they lost for the first time this season 45-36.
Scoring for the seventh graders were Gary with 15, Jericho Wilkerson with 7, Brandon White with 4, Dallas Galusha and Ben Rooyakkers with 3 each, and Ben Tucker with 2.
The eighth grade fell behind early, trailing at the end of the first quarter 20-0. They charged back, however, to almost match the Wildcats scoring in the second quarter at 14 to 15 but still trailed 35-14 at the half. Denim Eubanks hustled his way to 9 second quarter points to help keep the young Lyons in the game.
The last half was all Trigg county as the eighth graders fell 68-22. Scoring for the Lyons were Eubanks with 11, Jordan Gary with 5, Brandon White with 3, Jericho Wilkerson with 2 and Trey Green with 1.
in middle school action last week, the Lyons split a pair with Trigg. The seventh grade won 38-30 while the eighth grade lost 68-28.
Scorers included (eighth grade) Brandon White - 8, Austin Rush and Denim Eubanks - 6 each, Jericho Wilkerson - 4, Jordan Gary - 3, Gavin Petermichel -1. Seventh grade scorers were Jericho Wilkerson - 18, Jordan Gary - 9, Brandon White -8, Ben Tucker - 2, and Ben Rooyakkers -1.
The middle school boys will be back in action on Dec. 8 when they host South Hopkins and then will travel to Marshall County on Dec. 10. The seventh grade boys will wrap up their season the week of Dec. 13 when they travel to Crittenden County to compete in the fifth district tournament.
