After countless hours of work, the Eddyville-Kuttawa-Lyon County Joint Planning Commission has a draft of the proposed comprehensive plan that includes input on zoning and construction issues likely to affect the county for years to come. Now, they want your input.
The planning commission has developed a plan draft after meeting with leaders in both cities and the county, along with a public forum. The commission is asking the public to review the draft and provide comments and suggestions.
The goal of a comprehensive plan is to help guide the future development of the community and provide a reference document that identifies critical information about the community, as well as identify proposed community development projects and information on community resources. A community's comprehensive plan is reviewed every five years with typically minor changes, if any, but this update is a major revision of the comprehensive plan which is generally done once every 20 years.

The planning commission would like to get comments from the public on projects or ideas not listed in the plan that they feel would help make Lyon County a better place to live and work.
Also, if there are any elements or projects in the draft plan, any member of the public feels should be dropped and not included, please feel free to let the planning commission know.
Planning commission members would also like to know the projects or ideas in the plan the public likes and feel are important to the community and feel should be a priority.
Please email comments to Mr. Tony Ramey, Chairman, Lyon County Planning Commission at email@example.com, or mail comment to: Eddyville-Kuttawa-Lyon County Joint Planning Commission, P.O. Box 602, Eddyville, Kentucky 42038, ATTN: Tony Ramey.
The commission will have a public hearing on the draft on Monday, June 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the Lyon County Courthouse, 500 W. Dale Ave. Eddyville, Kentucky. The public is encouraged to attend and comment on the plan.
