Time is quickly approaching for this year's Walnut Grove Baptist Church Youth Challenge Mission Rally being held this year on Aug. 5.
The theme for this year is "I am a whosoever." It is a free event in which youth can come and serve the Lord and the surrounding communities and have some fun in the mix. The initial deadline to register is June 30.
This gives organizers plenty of time to plan mission projects for everyone coming.
Those interested in the event, may contact Bobby or Kathy Wallace 270-871-8597 or on the event page on Facebook "7th Annual Walnut Grove Youth Challenge Mission/Rally."
The youth rally is a day for youth in our communities to come together to serve the Lord through mission projects. The projects vary and could be a free car wash, yard work, visiting nursing homes, small construction projects, Bright Life Farms, Joseph Storage's Bin, and many others. Last year 15 mission projects were completed and hopes for this year include 20 projects or more.
It takes participation for this to be a success. Last year over 200 were in attendance for this event and many have already made a commitment to come back this year.
The day's events start off early in the morning with registration at 7:30 a.m. and opening celebration at 8:00 a.m. The groups are then given their assignments and head out to their projects by 8:30 to work until lunch time, then back to WGBC for lunch served by the Walnut Grove.
The rest of the day includes a mega relay, praise and worship with music this year being led by the Jamie Worley band, youth testimony time, preaching, youth talent time, a slideshow of the day's events and a mega water slide.
There is no charge to participants, but youth groups do have to provide their own transportation to mission projects.
