Fire concerns Tuesday led to Judge Executive Wade White adding Lyon County to a growing list communities enacting burn bans across the state.
According to White's executive order, all outdoor burning is prohibited until further notice.
"I urge all Lyon County citizens to comply with this proclamation so that we can preserve Lyon County's timber resources and homes," White said in a written statement Monday night. "This order also includes fireworks and exploding targets."
As of Tuesday afternoon, all of Lyon County's contiguous counties had enacted some form of burn ban. According to the Division of Forestry, every county west of Caldwell has enacted a ban.
Drought conditions across much of the state have resulted in 52 counties declaring burn bans. Eastern Kentucky continues to grapple with brush fires which have burned more than 11,000 acres in the last month.
Fires popped up around the county Monday, including ones that damaged trees and vegetation along Rose Lane. Local emergency responders have been busy trying to keep fires under control.
