Senior pitcher Avery Ellis was dominant as the Lyons defeated Murray High School 5-0 last week on the road.
Ellis allowed just four singles as the Lyons kept the bases clean on their way to the win. It moved Lyon to 2-0 on the season after they opened March 9 with a win over Hopkins County Central.
In Murray, Lyon County's bats had two hits and no runs until the fifth inning when Gabe Board got the scoring started. Board's RBI gave Lyon the 1-0 advantage. They wouldn't score again until the seventh, when Board hit a three-run double to pad the lead.
Brody Bridges knocked in Lyon's final run of the inning for the 5-0 decision.
The Lyons fell March 18 in their first home game of the season as Christian County used a six-run seventh inning to take the lead late. Travis Yancy got Lyon's scoring started in the third inning with a two-run sacrifice fly. Max Wadlington and Jack Walker earned RBIs as part of a four-run sixth inning that put Lyon up 6-4.
But the Colonels got hot late, putting together six runs off seven hits to rally for the win.
Lyon was slated to host Crittenden County on Monday, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.
