After letting a 3-0 first half lead slip away Monday, the Lyons rallied against Fort Campbell to advance in the Region Two All "A" tournament.
Lyon County's Kendall Sandoval earned a hat trick on the night, while Bryson Penn notched the other two goals to go along with an assist. Sandoval got the scoring started early for the Lyons, shrugging off a slide tackle by Falcon Abel Omambia to take his second shot on goal just before the 36 minute mark.
Fort Campbell keeper Dakota Zehler wasn't able to block the shot as Lyon County went up 1-0. Sandoval earned his second goal midway through the half, finding a rebound in the box and firing it over Zehler for the 2-0 lead.
Lyon County earned its third goal in the final two minutes as Penn headed the ball over a flock of Falcons. Lyon's defense kept the ball at midfield through most of the first half, allowing the Falcons just two shots on goal through the first 15 minutes, helping setting up the 3-0 score at the break.
The second half was rougher for Lyon County.
Fort Campbell adjusted its attack and switched goalies to Ripken Stork. Atta Anzoua put the Falcons on the board five minutes into the half after two drives through the middle of the field. Defender Gabe Board drove off the first attack, but Stork scored on the second.
Fort Campbell pushed the attack over the next 10 minutes, finally tying the score with a little over 27 minutes remaining.
Lyon rallied with Sandoval and Penn each scoring another goal while Lyon County's defense held the Falcons to a lone goal over the final 26 minutes. Lyon County took the contest 5-4, advancing to play Dawson Springs Tuesday prior to press time.
For the night, Penn, Austin Duff and Frank Cornado earned assists. Lyon keeper Josiah Wilkerson made 11 saves on the night.
