Lyon County's middle school Lady Lyons split decisions with Reidland just before the Thanksgiving break.
The eighth grade Lady Lyons had a resounding 30-7 win, led on offense by Rose Smith with 20 points. Kenttavia Matthews scored six for Lyon, along with Abbi Crawford (3) and Adriana Galusha (1). Smith scored 10 of Lyon County's 11 second quarter points.
Lyon dominated most of the game, holding Reidland to one from the stripe in the first quarter and no points across the second and third frames.
In seventh grade action, the Lady Lyons fell 24-17. Smith led the scoring for both teams in that contest, netting 12 points off five field goals. She went 2-for-6 from the stripe. Also scoring were Ella Defew (3) and Katie Ladd (2).
Lyon led much of the contest, taking a 9-6 advantage into the break. The Lady Lyons finished the third quarter up 15-13, but were outscored 11-2 in the final frame. Lyon's only points in the fourth came from free throws by Defew who went 2-for-3.
