Announcement Guidelines

The Herald Ledger offers standard announcements at no charge and custom announcements for a nominal fee. To submit a standard announcement, please use the appropriate announcement form and print or type the information requested. Custom (paid) announcements with more extensive information are available, contact our office for more information.

Announcements are published as space permits, and dates for announcements to appear are not guaranteed, so please submit information with ample time before a wedding or anniversary. Deadline for submissions to be considered for the newspaper is noon on the Friday prior to our Wednesday publication date.

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
When submitting an engagement anouncement, if the wedding date has not been set, announcements must state the anticipated month or season of the year, not to exceed 12 months. A professional-quality black and white or color photo of the bride-to-be or couple may be submitted. If we judge the photo to be inferior in quality or taste, we may refuse it.

WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Standard wedding announcements will not be published more than 90 days after the ceremony. There is no time limit for custom (paid) wedding packages. A 5x7 or larger professional-quality photo is preferred for wedding announcements. If we judge the photo to be inferior in quality or taste, we may refuse it.

ANNIVERSARY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Standard anniversary announcements are published for the 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries and then for every five years after the 50th (55, 60, 65, etc.). A 5x7 or larger photo is preferred for anniversary announcements. If we judge the photo to be inferior in quality or taste, we may refuse it. “Then and now” photos are subject to a $10 charge.

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENTS
Standard birth and adoption announcements will be printed up to 90 days after the birth or adoption. For children with unmarried parents, the mother and father must BOTH sign the announcement form and list a daytime telephone number for verification purposes.

For your protection, all announcements must be signed and include a daytime telephone number.
