A graveside service for James Lynn “Jim” Lady,73, of Livingston County was conducted by his best friend, Nick Hatfield, accompanied by Nick’s sister, Aretta Hubbard, who sang a solo and played the guitar. A 21-gun military salute was given by family and friends using Jim’s vast collection of guns. Jim was buried on his home farm to be near the family and land that he loved. Visitation was on the front porch of his home with a bonfire in the yard. Lunch was served and friends visited, including several dogs. They enjoyed the bonfire and had lunch too.

All the men present served as pall bearers with his last ride from the porch to the grave site in the back of his truck with his faithful dog beside him.

Mr. Lady died Dec. 29 at his home in Livingston County. He was of the “old” Between The Rivers type people who loved his family, valued his friends, and served his country, joining the Air Force before he was of legal age.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie Strickland Lady and Robert Puck Lady; three brothers, Robert Floyd (Bob) Lady, Lloyd Richard (Biddy) Lady and Carnie Lee Lady.

Survivors are: his children, Michael Lynn and Carla Susanne Lady of Fla. ,Vickie Lynn Biter, Port Byron, Ill., Robert Lee (RoHo) Lady, Tammy Lynn Lady, and Brenda Kay Benson, all of Grand Rivers, and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
