Robert “Bob” Earl Raymond, 86, of Calvert City, Ky., died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 7:35 a.m. at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, Ky.. He served in the Army during World War II where his platoon was the first to land in Japan after the atomic nuclear bombing. After his military service, he graduated from college with a degree in engineering. He retired from Shawnee Plastics in Kuttawa as vice president of engineering. He was also a member of Calvert City Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

He is survived by his loving wife: Julia “Judy” Ann Burton Raymond of Calvert City, Ky. ; Five daughters: Yolanda and husband Paul Sowders, Evansville, Ind., Karen and husband Dennis Raider, Fort Branch, Ind., Pam Blackburn, Eddyville, Ky., Cheryl and husband Tim Schurmeir, Princeton, Ind., Denise and husband Jerry Clements, Evansville, Ind.; a stepdaughter: Sarah and husband Maxie Lee of Calvert City, Ky.; one brother: Richard and wife Margaret Sanford, Evansville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Brian Foronda, Justin Woodall, Nikki Kissner, Melissa Liddle, Kimberly Schurmeier, Mark Schurmeier, Kelsey Schurmeier, Rylei Clements, Karlei Clements, Elizabeth Mohr, Christopher Williamson; Two Great Grandchildren: Derrick Foronda and Clint Woodall.

He was preceded in death by his father: Earl Raymond, and his mother and stepfather: Valeda Eichele and Edwin Goebel.

Funeral service were at Collier Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, with the Rev. Thomas Williams officiating. Interment was at Calvert City Cemetery, Calvert City, Ky. Visitation with the family was on Tuesday at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Ky.
