Three new tenants — Shooters Supply, Gamer’s Paradise and Bone & Company Realtors — have nearly completed remodeling their buildings, and a fourth new tenant, Avenue 550 will begin remodeling the mall’s entire middle section on the right side, this week, said Tim Beck, mall operations manager and manager of the Bone & Company office.
Avenue 550, which will occupy 25,000 square feet, was originally announced to have leased space on the mall’s left side, but it opted for the middle section instead. Avenue 550 plans to have four buildings open by grand opening weekend.
The renovation plan called for removing 80 percent of the trees, shrubbery and lamp posts and filling the four-by six-foot spaces with concrete to create added parking at each store front. And much of that work is finished, Beck said in a brief phone interview Saturday.
“All the parking lot has been repaired, and is ready to be sealed and striped,” Beck said. “The stage has been removed, and the posts and awnings have been removed. ... There was a tremendous amount of repairs to be made in the drainage system and that is complete. And the roofs have been repaired.”
Beck said he is aware renovation and negotiations with prospective tenants is taking a long time, but he emphasized the new owners “want to get it right.”
The renovation plan also calls for hanging baskets on every other post at each store front and new lighting attached to each store front. It also calls for the painting the buildings’ exterior, back door replacement where necessary and aesthetic improvement to the restrooms. A fifth tenant Beck expects to bring in is a market specializing in Amish food and home decor products.
Three existing tenants — Higher Power Church, West Kentucky Education Cooperative and Chicago Cutlery — plan to stay. Chicago Cutlery occupies a separate building on mall property.
Beck has planned entertainment for the grand opening. The Gospel group, For Heaven’s Sake of Murray, will perform at 6 p.m. Aug. 2.
