Lyon County Board of Education member Jim Bannister has resigned his seat on the five-person body that guides the local school district.
"I wish to publicly say thank you to Mr. Bannister," said Superintendent of Schools Russ Tilford. "Mr. Bannister always wanted what is best for the students of Lyon County."
Bannister represented District 3 and has missed several recent meeting, many of which were special-called sessions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The board is seeking to appoint a replacement for the remainder of his term, which ends at the close of 2020. Interested applicants can find more information on the vacancy through an advertisement in today's edition of The Herald Ledger.
"Of course, Mr. Bannister was a part of the Board of Education that hired me to be your superintendent," Tilford added. "I am grateful for his service and friendship."
