The American Legion Post 68 baseball team out of Lyon County has a reputation for being a champion-level team — having won four straight state championships — and now, the champions are giving back in a fundraising event that seeks to raise $100,000 for five charities.

After their first game of the season ended with Christian County being mercy run-ruled in the third inning, Lyon County had a little stiffer competition this go around.

After an empty scoreboard for four innings, the Lyon County Lady Lyons took and held the lead over the Livingston Central Lady Cardinals in a 5-3 victory April 27 to secure the top seed in the district.

Lyon County weathered a push by the Crittenden County Rockets in the first inning, where the Lyons coughed up three runs, but still managed to secure their fifth straight win, 11-5, Friday night.

It’s not often that a player hits three home runs in one game, but Jackson Shoulders did just that April 26 at the Trigg County Complex.
