Back in the good old days, we boys in school would participate in knife swapping.

We would hold, concealed in our hand, usually the worst old plug knife we could find, and the other fellow would do likewise. I usually got the worst end of the deal, a broken, rusty old knife that I should have taped a quarter onto and thrown in the river!

It was kinda our old, outdated version of a scam, and I was usually the one who got scammed. The older boys could see the neon sign on my forehead flickering, “sucker, sucker, sucker.”

We have all made swaps in our lives that we have later regretted. It may have been a car, gun, or whatever. Some were comparable in value and some were not.

The scripture tells us about a swap that most assuredly we don’t want to make! Some make this swap for various reasons. It may be for wealth, status or popularity, but none of these can be compared to the worse end you will receive. To be ‘on the short end of the stick’ of this trade will be eternal and disastrous!

This is the trade that I am writing about! You have something more valuable than anything else in creation. It is called a living soul! (Genesis 2:7).

Matthew 16:26 reads, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the wold world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? The questions are staggering within enormous consequence. Our Lord Jesus places that worth of your soul of more value than anything and everything that is in existence. If it were possible to gather all the riches of the world in a single heap,on the scales of justice, your soul would outweigh them all.

Amos 4:12 reads, “Prepare to meet thy God.” Ezekiel the prophet declares, “Behold all souls are mine, as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: The soul that sinneth it shall die!”

The best swap you can make is to exchange the eternal destiny of your soul! You can go to heaven instead of the place of torment forever! He tells us that “He that cometh unto me, I will in no wise cast out!” Come now while there is time! The time is critical! How shall you escape if you neglect so great Salvation?
