Fair-weather friends abound! They are with you in the sunshine when everything is prospering with you, but when the problems begin to rain and trouble is rampant, they are no where to be found.
When one accepts Jesus as his personal Savior, the worldly minded crowd runs from you like a scared rabbit! Why? Because what communion hath light with darkness? And, what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or, what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (II Corinthians 6:14-15). They care very little that you are hungry! The organizations which feed the poor are mostly faith-based. The citizen of the world has very little concern for the health of others.
There are not many “atheists health care systems” or “unbelievers mercy hospitals.” To the contrary, hospitals are named after church denominations such as Methodist Hospital; Baptist Hospital; Saint Jude Catholic Hospital. The unbeliever will say to us, “physician heal yourself” or “Am I my brother’s keeper?” We who have our citizenship in Heaven fully realize we are constrained by the Lord of Christ as the good Samaritan to bind up the wounded.
Not too long ago, Jack Tilley, sergeant major of the United States Army, was at Walter Reed hospital visiting soldiers who had come back from the war in Iraq. He went to shake hands with a man whose hand was missing; it had been blown off in the war. He shook the nub because he said that was all he knew how to do. There was another couple in the room, however, who did know how to handle the situation. The husband went to the same soldier, took his fragmented arm, kneeled before him, prayed for him, arose and kissed him on the forehead and told him, “I love you, thank you for your sacrifice.” His wife stood by him, nodding in consent. Her name is Laura Bush.
Take time to visit the hurting. Our great captain of the Lord of Hosts cares for us and prays for us (John 17; I Peter 5:7).
This is He who cares whether you are hopeless, or not. He has a home prepared for you in Heaven. All you have to do to secure your title is realize your sinfulness, need of a Savior, call on Him in repentance, and accept Him by faith claiming His promise that “Whosoever shall call upon Him shall be saved.”
The citizen of this world does not care that you are hopeless and without Christ in this world (Ephesians 2:12). Please come to Jesus now! Please read Romans 9:10.
