John 8:12...

Here Jesus tells us that He is the light of the world. He that follows Him shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of the life.

The reason man chose to walk in darkness is explained in scripture. Mankind is a fallen race initiated by sin (Romans 5:12). It created in us the very nature to sin! We sin willfully! It is as natural as breathing. We don’t want to and the Child of God is remorseful when He does and hopefully confesses and asks God’s forgiveness when he does. We will sin until we die. As long as we live in this fleshly body, the natural man will sin. Thanks be unto our graceful Lord who has given us an inner man (spiritual man) who doesn’t sin. (II Corinthainas 5:21).

The apostle Paul writes that we are corruptible unto the time this corruption puts on incorruptibility — I Corinthians 15:52-54. The explanation he give is (Romans 7:14-25) that the law is spiritual, but he is carnal, sold under sin. He goes on to write, ‘For that which I do, I allow not; for what I would that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If that which I would not do, I do, I consent unto the law that it is good. No then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in my flesh dwelleth no good thing; for to will to do good is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not, for the good that I would do, I do not, but the evil which I don’t want to do, that I do. Now if I do that which I don’t want to do, it is no more that I do it, but the sin that dwelleth in me.’ I

I find then a law that when I would do good, evil is present with me. I want to delight in doing good, and the inward man (spiritual) man allows it, but wearing in my members is an anchor against me not to do good! Why do I do this? Jesus explains that it is because of our fallen nature. (John 3:19) reads that men love darkness rather than light because our deeds are evil! Man has two natures. They are spiritual and carnal. While one is corrupt, the other one born again is incorruptible. Thanks be to a merciful God that I don’t have to stand before God at the Judgement seat in my filthy self-righteousness but clad in the white robes of God’s righteousness made our and cleaner than snow by the blood of Jesus Christ!

One day soon, we will walk in the light of that city where the Lord thereof is none other that shines forever more! Glory and Praise to God in Heaven! To be continued.
