The Nelson County KY Farm Bureau and Nelson County area farmers have delivered supplies to Lyon County farmers affected by the Dec. 10 tornado

The fencing supply donation is for Lyon County farmers who had fences damaged from the tornado. UK extension agent Susan Fox coordinated the fencing supplies needed with the Nelson County Farm Bureau group and the Kentucky Ag Disaster Fund. This fund has been organized through Kentucky Farm Bureau, Keith Rogers, chief of staff with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension.

Locally, the agriculture, stream and creek debris documentation has been led by Arthur Dunn, Caldwell Lyon District technician for NRCS. Rod Murphy, Conservation District Board director, and Lyon County Extension, Arthur Dunn and the Caldwell-Lyon Cattlemen’s Association have all worked together to receive agricultural supplies and to identify ag damage in Lyon County. This has included submitting photos and documentation to NRCS and FSA agencies in Princeton, answering questions from the farm community and helping to direct volunteer efforts.

Please contact Susan at 270-388-2341 to request fencing supplies. Appreciation is extended to Akridge for storing and serving as the distribution point for the fencing supplies.
