This year will be the fifth for the Flags of Honor display at Eddyville City Park. The flags, dedicated in memory of veterans past or present, will be flown from Memorial Day until Independence Day.

After July 4, the flags are taken down, folded properly and returned to the person who made the dedication. Along with the flag, the person also receives the identification tags from the flagpole and a certificate of appreciation.

A dedication ceremony is still planned for 10 a.m. at the park on Memorial Day.

Dedication forms are available at Lyon County American Legion Post 68 in Kuttawa until May 21. They are also available at The Herald Ledger office in Eddyville.

A new flags is $25. If you have a flag that was flown at one of the previous displays, it can be reused this year. It must be in serviceable condition and only costs $15 to be displayed.
