Unemployment rates fell in Lyon and 84 other Kentucky counties between October 2018 and October 2019, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

The jobless rate for the 10th month of 2019 was 4.1% in Lyon County, down from 4.7% the year before, but up from 3.7% in September 2019.

The statewide rate was 3.7% in October 2019, while the comparable U.S. rate was 3.3%.

Only Crittenden (3.7%) and Hopkins (3.9%) counties of the nine-county Pennyrile Area Development District had lower rates for October 2019.

The district presented 4.8% unemployment.

Fayette and Oldham counties recorded the lowest jobless rates in the commonwealth at 2.8% each.

Magoffin County had the highest unemployment rate at 10.9%
