Sheriff seeking home burglary clues

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White is asking for the public’s help in solving a burglary at a residence on Ky. 1943.

White said a home in the 6000 block of the state highway was burglarized sometime between April 21 and 24, with the door having been kicked in when the owner was not a home.

The crime was reported to authorities Friday. Taken from the home were National Wild Turkey Federation prints, bourbon and a small Panasonic television.

“We do not have any suspects at this time,” White said Monday.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to the the sheriff’s department at 270-388-2311.

Kuttawa couple facing drug charges

A Kuttawa couple is facing drug charges following their arrest Saturday.

Karen Lynn Journigan, 44, and John W. Journigan, 50, were each charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after Lyon County Deputy Sam Adams responded to a domestic dispute around 1 p.m. at 211 Locust St.

Both suspects surrendered the alleged contraband to the deputy.

Woman accused of stealing electricity

Kelly Leigh Campbell, 41, of Kuttawa has been charged with theft of services for allegedly stealing electricity from Kenergy Corp. to power a rental home on Ky. 810 North.

On April 15, Adams met a representative of the utility at the residence to find jumper cables used to tap into the electric service. The tap was then disconnected at the pole.

According to Adams’ report, Jaime Campbell had the power shut off at the home on April 6. Kelly Campbell later requested the power be turned back on, but reportedly could not afford the reconnection fee. At some point, the woman allegedly unlawfully connected to the power.

Kenergy reports a loss of $351.88 in electric services.

Kuttawa Dollar General shoplifter charged

The Dollar General store in Kuttawa is a frequent target of shoplifters, and the most recent to be accused of stealing from the store is Billy Joe Martin, 30, of Fredonia.

According to a sheriff’s report, Martin is accused of shoplifting from the store on April 21 by placing items in his pants and leaving the store without paying. He was confronted the following day, and surveillance video allegedly confirmed an admission by Martin that he took the items.

He was charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500.

Man accused of stealing from Kuttawa Clinic

A Princeton man has been charged with stealing lidocaine, an anesthetic, from a local clinic.

According to a sheriff’s report, James Edward Wiseman was charged with theft of a legend drug under $300 value after allegedly taking a bottle of the drug from Kuttawa Clinic on April 22. Deputy Chris Smith reports the lidocaine was located in plain view in the console of Wiseman’s vehicle.

He was cited to court.

Drug charges enhanced by firearm possession

An Eddyville woman is facing drug-related charges after authorities found her around 9:30 p.m. April 21 sitting in the grass just off Kuttawa Springs Road, where her boyfriend had reportedly left her an hour earlier.

According to a joint Lyon County Sheriff-Eddyville Police investigation, Tawny M. Clinton, 31, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) after allegedly giving a deputy permission to search her belongings. The officer reportedly located a marijuana roach inside of a cigarette pack as well as a small baggie of methamphetamine in her purse.

The meth charge was enhanced because Clinton was reportedly in possession of a large knife and 9 mm handgun.
