A Christmas Day traffic stop led to the arrest of a Union County man and woman on numerous charges related to drugs and counterfeit currency.
According to a press release from Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Ronart Wedding, 49, and Beri L. Sheely, 38, both of Morganfield, were arrested Wednesday afternoon following an investigation prompted by a registration violation. Fourteen charges were filed between the two individuals, including four felonies.
An investigation reportedly led Sheriff Brent White to discover inside the vehicle suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription pills, also known as legend drugs. White also allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia and a counterfeit $100 bill. Illegal drugs and more fake currency were tied Sheely, who had just prior to the traffic stop been reportedly dropped off by Wedding at an Eddyville residence.
Wedding is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 6 in Lyon Circuit Court. No court date has been set for Sheely, who has a Jan. 13 Webster District Court date in a separate case.
