A Nebraska woman was killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 in Caldwell County. The wreck occurred just across the Lyon County line near the Ky. 139 exit around 4:20 p.m.

According to Kentucky State Trooper Daniel Holland, of Post 2 in Madisonville, Heidi Renter, 22, of Omaha, Nebraska, was killed when the car in which she was a passenger abruptly exited the interstate and collided with trees. The eastbound 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was being driven by Jaryonlee Wells, 24, also of Omaha.

Renter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner’s office. The driver and another passenger, 1-year-old Elyonha Wells of Omaha were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and are in stable condition at this time. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Holland.
