The investigation into the death of a Lyon County native two weeks ago in Oregon continues, with no arrests having been made at press time.
The body of Cody Joseph Baize, 28, originally from Eddyville, was found in a roadside ditch near Butte Falls on the morning of Jan. 10.
A passerby reported the discovery to Jackson County (Oregon) Sheriff's Office in southwest Oregon.
It appears the man was murdered, as law enforcement is treating his death as "suspicious" and has formed a major assault death investigation unit.
Authorities are releasing no further information because the case is ongoing.
However, the chief deputy assigned to the case in the Jackson County District Attorney's office told The Herald Ledger a cause of death has been determined.
"I can confirm that an autopsy has been performed," said Jeremy Markiewicz, "but due to the nature of the investigation, I cannot release anything further."
Baize, who lived in Grants Pass, Oregon, grew up in Lyon County and has family who remain in the area.
According to his Facebook page, he had lived in Kansas as late as 2017 before relocating to Oregon in 2018.
