River's Bend Retirement Community was given the green light Monday by Kuttawa City Council to move ahead with plans for adding an assisted living facility.
Approval was granted to rezone a tract of 6 acres at the corner of Ky. 295 and Beech Street from residential to business, allowing the provider to construct a 10-unit facility to offer assisted living services to residents. It will not be an expansion of the current nursing home on adjacent property, but a separate building offering different services.
Eddyville-Kuttawa-Lyon County Joint Planning Commissioner Joe Mattingly was on hand at Monday's meeting to tell council members that River's Bend had checked off all the requirements to move ahead.
Mattingly said based upon that, the planning commission gave its recommendation for the council to grant final approval to the zoning change.
The commission had been waiting on a completed development plan. Its absence is why city council members did not approve the zoning change request at the December meeting.
