Lyon County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person or persons responsible for the attempted burglary of the Woodmen of the World park building off Jenkins Road. The property is near the railroad tracks and the Rolling Hills Cemetery just outside the city limits of Eddyville.
On Oct. 15, the sheriff’s department was notified of vandalism to the park’s building. Upon further investigation, deputies found evidence of an attempted burglary. The building was damaged in several locations when the offenders attempted to forcibly enter.
“It appears they were unsuccessful in gaining entry; however, the damage resulted in necessary repairs to the building,” read a news release from the sheriff’s department.
It is believed the crime occurred between Sept. 19 and Oct. 15.
All leads have been exhausted, according to the release. That is why Sheriff Brent White is asking the public for information concerning the responsible party.
