Shortened Christmas break underway

Ava Prow (left) and Maddie Perry in Evelyn Slaton's Lyon County Elementary School second grade classroom celebrate the last day of school Friday before Christmas break by singing an animated version of "Frosty the Snowman." Children at LCES spent the final day of class in 2019 wrapping up instruction and getting a head start on celebrating the holidays. This year's Christmas break will be a bit shorter than usual, with a return to the classroom slated for Thursday, Jan. 2. Two days were cut off of the break by the board of education after a mid-autumn snow kept students home one day.
