Austin Long, a senior at Lyon County High School, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Greenville University Monday night.
A ceremony to commemorate the evening was ended with Long taking photos and sharing a few words with his family and Lyon teammates.
Long thanked his family for their dedication to his career through all of the “long car rides, the long weekends and the late-night practices.”
He went on to thank past and present coaches for “the huge impact they have had on his life on and off the field”
Long pitched a solid opener preceding the ceremony in a win over rival Crittenden County Rockets
Greenville University is a private Christian NCAA Division III school in Greenville, Illinois.
The university’s program boasts a long list of accomplishments from recent St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wins in 2015 and 2017 to six, 20-plus winning seasons since 2014.
