October 24 - The Lyon County Sheriff's Office received a report from a local business owner at West Main and Trade Avenue concerning a female who was loitering on the property. The owner reportedly approached the woman and asked if she could help and, during that conversation, the owner became concerned for the welfare of this woman.

The owner called the sheriff's office and requested a welfare check.

Sheriff Brent White pull up to the business in a marked police cruiser and, upon making eye contact, the female gathered a suitcase and handbag and fled around the side of the building.

The subject was given a loud verbal command, advising her to stop. However, she did not stop, continuing westbound around the building. She attempted to run down Trade Avenue, until she was stopped.

The subject would not communicate verbally with Sheriff White, declined to provide ID and declined to speak with him regarding her health or when she last ate or drank. He explained the sheriff's office was not there to hurt her and only desired to help her. She continued to refuse to answer any questions.

She was offered food and water, however, she would not respond.

She was detained and read her Miranda warning but would not acknowledge whether she understood them, nor did she waive them verbally or otherwise.

Her person and belongings were searched, but no identification was found. The report noted that there may be some underlying mental illness but it is unknown what diagnosis, if any, she may have.
