About 12:55 p.m. Friday, Deputy Sheriff Sam Adams conducted a traffic stop of a 1998 Honda off West Main Street in Eddyville. Ryan Allbright, 61, of Kuttawa, the driver, was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked operator’s license from Indiana.

On Thursday about 3:30 p.m. Deputy Sheriff Sam Adams was dispatched on a complaint of a disturbance in Eddyville. He found Zachery J. Brown, 25, of Marion at the Five Star Convenience Store driving a 2012 Dodge Avenger. Adams charged Brown with having no operator’s license. There were no charges filed stemming from the alleged disturbance incident.

Last Wednesday at 3:37 p.m. Adams and Deputy Sheriff Joe Witherspoon responded to a three-vehicle injury collision at the intersection of Interstate-24 and U.S. 62 West. The investigation by Adams revealed a 2016 Freightliner driven by Magnus Nwakuna, 51, of Colorado Springs, Colorado left the westbound off-ramp and allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2012 Peterbilt driven by George Johnson, 62, of Madisonville.

The Johnson tractor-trailer rig allegedly sideswiped the 2016 Freightliner before colliding with a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Donald “Donnie” Lewis, 52, of Eddyville. Lewis was injured in the collision and transported by Lyon County Emergency Medical Service to Mercy Lourdes hospital. All three vehicles sustained significant damage in this collision.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County Emergency Management, Eddyville Police Department, and Kentucky Traffic Control personnel.

Also last Wednesday afternoon, officers with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Eddyville Police Department conducted a highway safety detail in conjunction with the Click It or Ticket campaign on U.S. 62 West. During the detail, officers issued five citations and arrested one driver on a charge of operating on a suspended/revoked license stemming from his alleged failure to answer a court summons.

In another incident last Wednesday at 11:10 a.m., Adams arrested Michael J. Burns, 34, of Eddyville on Third Street in Old Eddyville and charged him on a bond violation warrant from Lyon Circuit Court where he is under indictment charging multiple offenses stemming from a 2020 incident. Burns was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

On May 25 about 10 a.m., Sheriff Brent White was following up on an unrelated investigation when he discovered Gary W. Wagoner, 60, of Kuttawa had a failure to appear warrant for his arrest from Madison County, Illinois. Wagoner was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was turned over to the Lyon County Jailer.
