Shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, Deputy Sheriff Joe Witherspoon was dispatched to a single vehicle wreck on Interstate 69 near the 70-mile post. A 2013 Nissan Altima, driven by Autumn Rodgers, 20, of Boaz, was northbound when a deer entered her lane causing a collision. The airbags deployed on the vehicle and the driver was not injured.
On Saturday shortly after 4 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Keith Suits charged Jordan S. Baize, 37, of Kuttawa, on a warrant from Lyon Circuit Court for theft by deception over $1,000. Baize is lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
About 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Suits was dispatched to Vista Drive in Kuttawa in connection with a semi-truck that had gotten stuck in a ditch off the city street.
Upon assisting the driver, Suits allegedly smelled marijuana emitting from the truck’s cab. The driver, Pedro Luis Acevedo Jr., 39, of Clute, Texas, was charged with possession of marijuana and cited to Lyon District Court.
Also on Thursday about 1:05 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Sam Adams and Sheriff Brent White were assisting Kentucky Probation and Parole officers in the Lamasco community when they came in contact with Tara Escobar, 43, and Gerald G. Cotton, 64, both of Eddyville, on Mayhugh Road.
After an investigation, Adams arrested Escobar on charges of operating on a suspended/revoked license, failure to wear seat belt, no insurance, possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of a legend drug.
White arrested Cotton and charged him with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. At the time, Cotton was on state probation for marijuana and methamphetamine related convictions, according to sheriff’s reports.
Both men were lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Last Wednesday about 10:45 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Sam Adams and Sheriff Brent White arrested Brendan E. Durham, 20, of Eddyville, following an early morning investigation.
Officers were called to the Caldwell County Medical Center in connection with a victim who was being treated in the emergency room. The investigation indicated the person had been assaulted at a residence in southern Lyon County and was transported to the ER for treatment of injuries.
Adams charged Durham with fourth-degree assault. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
On Nov.1 about 12:15 p.m., Sheriff Brent White arrested Andrew M. Freeman, 34, of Clarksville, Tennessee, while in Eddyville, on a bench warrant from Christian District Court for failure to appear.
Freeman was able to later post bond and was released from custody.
Also on Nov. 1 about 12:35 p.m., White arrested Joseph R. Ward, 39, of West Paducah, in Eddyville on a bench warrant from Lyon District Court for failure to appear.
He was turned over to the custody of the jailer in Lyon District Court, which was in session at the time of his arrest.
