Voters poll Tuesday morning at the Lee S. Jones Convention Center, the only location for casting ballots on primary election day. Because of public health concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic, precinct voting was whittled down to one.

Polling for Kentucky's primary election in Lyon County is now closed, and President Donald Trump received more ballots than any other candidate voted for among the 540 ballots cast at the Lee S. Jones Convention Center.

The convention center was the only in-person polling location in the county Tuesday, and the results in this story represent only the votes cast there. They do not include mail-in ballots or early votes on the absentee machine inside County Clerk Lori Duff's office, which account for more than 1,600 votes. Those will be released June 30.

From the numbers, local Republicans seem pleased with their current leadership in Washington. Trump received 267 votes, tops among all races on the ballot. Sen. Mitch McConnell received the second most with 235.

Lyon County Democrats, however, do not seem convinced about their presumptive nominee for President, as Joe Biden was bested by the "Uncommitted" vote 81-79. Uncommitted votes are essentially a message to delegates at the party convention that they can vote to nominate any candidate they wish.

Name recognition seemed to come into play in all races.
