Travis Perry, Lyon County’s All-Region basketball standout, has been named among the top players in nation’s Class of 2024.

Perry, an incoming freshman, is fifth in the Naismith National Youth All-American nationwide rankings. He is the top Kentucky Mr. Basketball candidate for his graduating class.

As an eighth-grader, Perry was second in the state in scoring during the 2019-20 season, tallying 26.6 points per game, only 1.3 points off the pace. In 32 games, he hit 208 field goals, 83 three-pointers and 187 free throws for a total of 852 points. Only two other players scored more total points.

He was also ranked among the top 50 Kentucky players last season in 3-point field goals per game at 2.6. He attempted 219 threes, making his mark on 37.9% of his long-range shots.

Perry has amassed more than 1,000 varsity points scored as a middle-schooler.
