Lyon County’s Jackson Shoulders is all smiles after hitting his third home run of the season.

It’s not often that a player hits three home runs in one game, but Jackson Shoulders did just that April 26 at the Trigg County Complex.

Brody Williams also hit one over, as the Lyons earned an 8-1 win over Trigg County.

Trigg was first to get on the board when Tyler Ahart kicked things off with a double to center field. Singles by Jay Humphries and Joe Peca sent Ahart home for the lone Trigg County run of the game.

Shoulders led off the second inning with a homer to left that tied the game, 1-1. Christian O’Daniel made it to second on a fly ball deep into right field. Austin Long kept it rolling with a sacrifice fly that sent O’Daniel home to extend the Lyons lead to 2-1.

The Lyons added to the lead for good in the top of the third. Gunnar Bingham and Williams hit back to back doubles that earned the Lyons one additional run just before Shoulders stepped up to the plate and knocked a three-run homer over the fence giving the Lyons a 6-1 lead.

Even though the game was pretty much in the Lyons’ hands from the second inning on, Williams and Shoulders decided to close the seventh inning with a bang with both boys hitting their fourth home run of the season.

Trigg had one more at bat, but it took Bingham only four batters and 11 pitches to seal the contest over the Wildcats.

Bingham was on the mound for seven innings, allowing only eight hits, striking out an impressive 11 batters and walking none. Of the 83 pitches Bingham threw, 65 were strikes.

Lyon had 12 hits in the game. O’Daniel and Shoulders led the Lyons, each going 4-for-4 at the plate. Shoulders scored three runs and earned five RBIs. Williams went 2-for-4 at the plate and collected two RBIs.
