Janice S. "Jan" Thomas Vernon, 74, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Baptist Health Paducah.

She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, a former auxiliary police officer with the Princeton Police Department and a former Caldwell County deputy jailer. Her most treasured occupation was as a school bus driver for the Caldwell County School District, where she loved seeing her school children grow and play.

Vernon is survived by a daughter, Kim (Tracy) Giannini of Caldwell County; a son, Jason (Tami) Tami Vernon of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sisters, Judi Stone of Eddyville, Martha Wyatt of Princeton and Linda Cartwright of Smyrna, Tennessee; a brother, Philip Thomas of Princeton; six grandchildren, Corey Giannini, Clay Giannini, Macie Giannini and Meridan Giannini,Carson Vernon and Lily Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Wilson and Hazel Evelyn Claxton Thomas; a beloved infant daughter, Lisa Renee Elder; and a brother, James "Jimmy" Thomas.

Funeral services were Saturday at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Duane Burden officiating. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date.
