The Lady Lyons celebrated their fourth win of the season, a double digit win over McLean County while Rose Smith also celebrated her 1,000th career point on the road last Friday night. The 54-42 win over the Lady Cougars was the third straight win for Lyon County. The Lady Lyons are currently 4-4 after a rough season start.
Smith, who got her very first varsity point as a 7th grader, joins the 1,000 point club just eight games into the season of her senior year. Smith finished the night with 17 points.
The Lady Lyons led 9-4 at the end of the first quarter. Lexi Holland’s three-pointers helped the Lady Lyons hold the 22-17 lead going into half time. Kashlynn Rice knocked down seven of eight free throws to match the Lyons 13 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Cougars trimmed the Lady Lyons lead back 36-35 thanks to three, three-pointers from Maria Blades and Sarah Miller.
Hadlie Butler had a big fourth quarter adding seven to put the Lady Lyons ahead 43-38. The Lady Lyons sealed the deal 54-42 with Holland’s 100% free throw shooting in her three trips to the line in the final minutes of the game. Holland finished the night with 14 points while Butler had 12.
