The opening round of single elimination of the All “A” Classic proved to be an easy one for Lyon County with Tori Schenk in the circle. The Lady Lyons opening game went just three innings on a 15-0 mercy rule that sent the Trimble County Lady Raiders home early.

The Lyon County offense wasted no time. Sydney Melton’s first at bat was a homer that scored the Lyons two of the inning’s three runs. Gracen Wynn made it to first on an error, one of five in the game for Trimble County, and was eventually batted in by Lilly Perry’s single before the Lady Raiders gained control of the field.

A Lyon County double play ended things in just three batters for the Raiders in the top of the second.

The real damage came in the bottom of the second, when the Lady Lyons put up 12 runs over 13 hits before the Raiders could pull themselves together. Given one more at bat, Maddie Nixon was the only Trimble County player to get on base and she never advanced past first.

Sydney Melton hit two, two-run home runs to lead the Lady Lyons offense. Collins and Conger both went 2-for-3 at the plate scoring two runs apiece. Dykes also went 2-for-3 and added a run.

Schenk was solid in the circle, pitching three innings, allowing four hits, striking out two and walking none.
