Weather postpones 5th district match up

Lyon County’s Lukas Sperry looks ahead to Jackson Crawford during their match against Trigg County.

Hurricane Ida put a damper on Lyon County boys soccer this week — Lyon’s first district match against Trigg County. With Trigg County leading 2-1 and still 6 minutes left in the first half, KHSAA rules required that the game be rescheduled, after lightning was spotted several times.

Dominik Lee put the first one in the net for the Wildcats around 10 minutes into the game. Lyon County tied the game back up 1-1 just 3 minutes later when Connor Stovall crossed a pass from the right corner to Timothy Stewart Taylor, who put it in the goal.

Less than 5 minutes before the game was called for the weather, a penalty kick from Lee into the left corner of the goal, gave the Wildcats the 2-1.

The game was rescheduled for Sept. 21.
