Irvan will lead middle school as new principal

Amanda Irvan joins Lyon County Schools as its new middle school principal. Her background is in education. She was previously principal at Crittenden County High School. She started in Crittenden in 2017. Her education career began in 2002 in Marshal County, working as a teacher’s aide. She said she is excited to start her job in Lyon County. “Honestly it’s the reputation of excellence, academic excellence,” Irvan said. “I think good principals don’t come in to change the world in year one.” Irvan’s instructional leadership and her history of engagement with the school community will assist her in identifying the needs of students. Irvan moved to western Kentucky in 2000. She’s originally from southern Illinois.
