Lilly Perry

Lilly Perry claimed the 7-5 win over Calloway County from the pitcher’s circle where she allowed just four runs and five hits, while striking out three.

The Lyon County Lady Lyons clinched the lead in the fifth inning and went on to beat Calloway County 7-5 on Tuesday night, May 9 in Murray. The win broke an eight-game drought for the Lady Lyons.

The scoreboard was empty until the fourth inning. Lyon batted first with Olivia Moore’s double scoring two runs. Emma Brasher and Lauren Davis hit back-to-back singles to give the Lady Lyons a 3-0 advantage.

Calloway tied it up in the bottom of the inning with doubles from Preslee Phillips and Carson McReynolds.

Destiny Cayce gave the Lyons the 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth with a long line drive to center field that plated Jenna Coursey. Lyon scored two more runs on Calloway errors to take the 6-3 lead into the sixth inning.

Coursey’s sacrifice bunt earned the Lyons one more run in the top of the sixth to make it 7-3. While the Lady Lakers did manage a run in the sixth and seventh innings, it was not enough for the costly fifth inning errors.

Lilly Perry led the Lady Lyons’ offense. She went 2-for-3. Moore was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Davis went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Perry claimed the win from the circle. She tossed 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits, while striking out three. Cayce threw the final 1.2 innings in relief. She surrendered one unearned run on two hits, while striking out two and walking none.
