Lyon County Judge-Executive Wade White provided an update Monday on American Red Cross disaster assistance and services being provided following the Dec. 10 tornado.

White said Red Cross is offering disaster mental health counseling. To access the free service, call 571-459-8041.

To report destroyed or damaged homes or property to Red Cross, call 1-800-733-2767.

“Most people whose homes were destroyed or sustained major damage from the 2021 December tornado outbreak will be contacted directly in the coming days and weeks through an email, text message, or phone call directly from the Red Cross,” according to a Red Cross news release.

White announced in a Facebook post that home demolition is ongoing, and assistance is available.

Christ In Action is a faith-based nonprofit organization providing disaster relief in Lyon County and surrounding communities impacted by the severely bad weather during December 2021.

“If your home must be torn down and your insurance did not pay enough to move it to the edge of the road for pick up we have a solution,” according to White. “Thanks to God — Christ Tabernacle in Princeton is hosting a group called Christ In Action. They will do the demolition of your home and move it to the curb.”

Lyon County Public Information Officer Jaime Green said Monday Promise Land Tree Service has collected 12,840 cubic yards of vegetation debris and 4,281 cubic yards of construction and demolition debris throughout the county.

Also Monday, the Kentucky Housing Corporation announced Amber Village, located at 333 Amber Court in Eddyville, is offering housing assistance for those displaced and affected by the natural disaster. For more information, contact Gerald Board at 270-388-7108.
