The Lyons moved to a five-game winning streak after an 85-51 win over Hopkins Central on Thursday night, Dec. 15 in Eddyville.

Travis Perry hit three 3-pointers to push Lyon County’s lead out 23-11 in the opening frame of the Region 2 matchup. Hopkins Central led briefly 3-0 from the tip off possession, but baskets from Walker Suitor and Jack Reddick rectified the situation quickly.

With Lyon County defense forcing the Storm to shoot outside, Drake Skeen’s 3-pointers would be all Hopkins Central would be able to put on the board until late in the first half. A pair of outside jumpers from Trevor Weldon would cap off Hopkins Central’s scoring as Lyon County’s lead swelled to 49-26 at the half.

Back from the half, Suitor went on a two-minute tear to add six more to Lyon County’s already growing lead. Reddick’s three with three minutes left in the third quarter put the Lyons up 69-34, enacting a running clock for the remainder of the game.

With little threat of a comeback, Lyon reserves finished out the final four minutes as Perry, Brady Shoulders and Reddick watched the youngsters in action. The second string held Hopkins Central to just two baskets, holding on to the 85-51 win.

Lyon County offense was led by Perry with 26 points. Shoulders finished with 18. Reddick completed his night with 17 points.
