Eli Baker brought the heat from the mound in the Lyons’ 10-0 shutout over Graves County.

Eli Baker’s one-hitter shutout led the Lyon County Lyons to a 10-0 victory over Graves County on Saturday afternoon, April 1 at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.

The Lyons opened with a five-run first inning to take the 5-0 lead. Lyon capitalized on Graves County fielding errors and two walks to go with singles from Baker and Turner Hurst for the initial surge.

Lyon added three runs over the next two innings to make it 8-0. A double from Austin Spears, followed by a single from Baker, gave the Lyons a 10-0 lead after five innings to end the game early in a mercy run rule.

Baker claimed his second win of the season, throwing all five innings, allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out four and walking one.

Spears went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Lyons. Landon Curd had the lone hit for Graves County.

Drew Hayden took the loss for Graves County, giving up eight runs, five earned, on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
