The Lyon County Lyons extended its winning streak to five games after the Saturday, March 26 road game against Ballard Memorial. Despite the wind, the Lyons claimed a 3-0 win.
Brady Belt got the start for the Lyons and pitched five scoreless innings.
Corey Cissell came in relief for two spotless innings as well. Belt surrendered three hits in five innings striking out three, while Cissell gave up one and struck out two.
The Lyons scored the first run of the night in the top of the third. Belt reached first on an error, followed by a double from Gunnar Bingham. Even with a man on, the Bombers decided to intentionally walk heavy hitter Jackson Shoulders, but the plan backfired when Brody Williams hit a sacrifice fly to left to score the Lyons first run 1-0.
A pitchers’ duel held things to 1-0 until the Lyons would add a couple of insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
A sacrifice fly from Cissell and a double from Shoulders got the Lyons a 3-0 lead.
Bingham was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Shoulders finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a RBI. Turner Hurst was 1-for-3 with a double that earned him a run scored.
